ERule - Please Listen To My Demo
Sydney's DJ Ology threw this video up on the Stealth magazine board, probably about the same time Robbie posted it over at Unkut. So, it's only right you go check out his post on this ill new track/video from the Los Angeles based MC.
ERule's 1994 "Listen Up" / "Synopsis" 12's is one of the greatest rap double sided singles of all time, to me. I really got to go and give that "Cold Currentz" release a listen.

Ise Lyfe set to perform Who's Krazy in LA

Respected, revered spoken word hip-hop theatre artist Ise Lyfe, will be showcasing his one man show - "Who's Krazy" at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood this week.
Directed bv Billy Hutton, "Who's Krazy" centres around the everyday life of a 31-year old African-American working in the Corporate rat maze, who reject, attempt to downplay early thirty year old mans blackness, till the character's ,moment of ephiphany, when he is forced to take a long look at all that he is, his beliefs, his background, himself.
In a HipHopDX interview, Ise Lyfe stated in relation to his one man theatre show - "This story is about a man who is born in the hood, goes corporate, and then fizzles out on his own hype. The hood in the 80's, his corporate career in the 90's, and when the piece ends with him on the ground moving his legs but going nowhere, he personifies and embodies the current state of this vast Hip Hop culture spawned from love, hunger, hopes, and bad decisions".
Acitivist, artist, educator Ise Lyfe made his own path to success. Tired, burnt out, stressed out due to the violence ever present throughout his native Oakland, California, Ise found an escape, lessons, truths, motivation scribling down rhymes, penning journals and through his involvement in teen poetry slams. He first obtained national recognition in 2000, as a competitor in the annual Youth Speaks Poetry Slam Finals and through representing SF's Bay Area at the Youth Speaks Natioanl Poetry Slam in 2001.
These awards, accolades helped secure performances for Ise all over the States. He has performed alongside Dave Chappelle, E-40, Harry Belafonte, Dead Prez, Ben Harper, The Coup to name a few and has been featured on Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam on HBO.
Ise co-founded the P.O.W.E.R. Movement, a grass roots organisation dealing with the educational, social and political basic needs of struggling youth. He also formed Lyfe Productives and has stood at the front of numerous Oakland school classrooms, repping Youth Speaks.

Check out the tracklisting on this set.....
Browsing the My Space bulletins, I came across the following blog from a favourite producer / musician of mine, the man who has been said by Ty G of HVW8 to have "almost single handedly brought the Boogie scene to life in LA", he goes by the name of Dam - Funk. Well written, it's a glimpse into his recent set at one of LA's dopest parties "the DO-OVER"....

Dam - Funk take it away....
"So, this was a pretty cool hit this past Sunday at one of L.A.'s freshest parties known as the DO~OVER, which is run by Haycock & Strong + hosted by Aloe Blacc. I went on after the homie KUTMAH (Much luv 4 droppin' "Burgundy City"!), who played an excellent set by the way. My set was all Boogie & Funk styles (also known as: Boogie-Funk) via the 'original wax pressings'. It's a trip sometimes playing this style outside of my own spot; Funkmosphere and other like minded parties/venues around the country right now, due to the fact that Hip-Hop is still the most dominant form of 'party music', if you will, out there for the weekend club goer. Nevertheless, I stayed true to what I dig and enjoy sharing with the people...all the way thru. As I approached the tables, as I always do, never planning a set in advance (ie. what I'm gonna play) I decided to drop these joints for the DO~OVER crowd. From the vibes of the people who were 'really there for the music', as well as straight party on this afternoon/evening, it felt like everything worked out real cool.
Props 2 ALL the ladies in the house & MUCH luv 2 the entire DO~OVER fam!
