Monday feel the vibe throwback joint

Isaac Hayes - Vykki (Disco Connection LP, 1975)

Be sure to check out DJ Frenzie's tribute to Isaac Hayes here

Here's what Frenzie had to say about this edition of his Groove Therapy radio show, tracklisting follows....

"A little bit of a different vibe for this episode. Gave me a chance to play some west coast rap, which admittedly I don't usually touch - But seeing as Isaac was such a huge influence on the west coast sound it made perfect sense to profile some of the tracks that have been heavily inpired by him..."

APEX, Eli tribute tonight on FBI Radio's Stolen Records.....

...May You Both Rest In Peace...

(Main picture: Eli Westlake. Insert: Sarah May Ward pic from Channel 9)

This blog goes worldwide, so I wanted to shed some light on what's happend here in the Sydney Hip Hop community, the terrible losses we have suffered of late....

...Struggling to type this....

Firstly I wanted to send my condolences, thoughts and prayers out to all the family and friends of Eli Westlake.

His death is all over the news here....

We (even those who has just met him a couple of times) are all in shock, many of us still can't comprehend APEX's (Angel Amado's) death and then to find out that a talented, humble, honest, genuine human being such as Eli was cruelly taken from us at just 21 years old. Some of us (especially those close to both these amazing human beings) are struggling...try to stay strong peeps!

Update: The main focus of the Stolen Records on Sunset tribute edition was on the life of APEX. Hopefully they do something similar for Eli. Big shout out to the Yoda of Hip Hop in Australia - Blaze - for recording it, check Sleeping Monk and 13th Son speaking about APEX, who he was - here (starts just past the four minute mark).

A tribute to Angel Amado aka A.P.E.X

(Ear Infection cd cover image courtesy of Sleeping Monk... A.P.E.X leaning on the rail in the centre of the photo...Cover design Monster Zero)

Angel Amado died on Saturday 24th, as the result of a severe motorcycle crash that took his life.

Words can't really describe who Angel was and the memories that will live on in those who knew him. He was a king. A warrior who told it like it was. He was one of the most authentic, loyal, intelligent, powerful human beings I and many others had ever met.

My condolences and thoughts go out to his family and friends! Gone but not forgotten... R.I.P Angel!

Frosty Freeze Rest In Peace

(Uploaded by bobyjungth)

"On April 3rd, 2008 at approximately 7:50am, Wayne "FROSTY FREEZE" Frost started his journey in to the next life. Our condolences go to his family and friends and all who knew of his great legacy. Frosty acknowledged those of us who came to visit him and was in good company during his last moments on this earth. For those of you who had the honor of knowing him, we all know that Frosty had a very celebrative spirit. He was constantly educating people and helped preserve the rich history of urban and Hip Hop culture. He was "the walking Hip Hop encyclopedia" and was one of the few brothers who had almost total recall in terms of history. We ask that you remember him as this great positive light who cared and loved many of us just as we loved and cared for him. On this day, we ask that people continue to keep him in their prayers. God willing, we will post any new information with regard to the wake and his memorial on April 11th."

Peace, Love and Unity,
FABEL RSC
