(Artwork & Design by Frenzie) DJ Strangefellow has been putting in work for ages now, not to mention he is one of the most humble, down to earth people in the Love / Hate city of Sydney. The latest venture of which he is an integral member is Sound Manoeuvers - the recently established DJ, Band and Musician booking agency, put together by folks who have had twenty years combined experience in the Sydney music scene. Their launch party is in full swing right about now.
Live in the mix, this set from one of the fiercest DJ's J-Rocc (The World Famous Beat Junkies) @ the D-O is sure to bring a smile to anyone's face. So necessary and so good.

The Boogie Dance Cafe is proud to present to you underground maestro Sadar Bahar. Strap on your skates and let’s roll on down to Spanish-town for an exclusive one-off Sydney party featuring Sadar performing a minimum 4 hour dj set.
Sadar, described as “Theo Parrish’s favourite DJ”, has been blowing minds in the Chicago disco and deep-house scene for well over 20 years. As the mastermind behind the legendary Soul in the Hole parties, he spins alongside Lee Collins and Richie Rich to a devoted audience of house-heads and disco divas known affectionately in Chicago as Sadarnites. He also maintained a 15 year residency at the Glenwood Roller Rink.
“Sadar’s audience goes crazy because he's playing to the point where you catch feelings … It's like, `Oh my God, this guy's snapping. " says Boolumaster W of Chicago’s WPWX-FM 92.3. Sadar brings you deep house jams in good hands, seeking out the rarest of grooves to take dancers on a glide to the next level. Sadar will be playing a minimum 4 hour set, but if the man is in his groove he’s goin’ all night long. Prepare for tunes from the deep-beyond.
Sadar is joined by Mikey Miutante (Paradise Lost, Bodega) and Brut 33 (Paradise Lost, Space is the Place), who bring you your weekly Friday night dose of boogie-love at Boogie Dance Café on Eastside Radio 89.7FM.
It’s all going down at our favourite Latin backroom basement haunt, La Campana, on the 9th May. Join us for a jam like no other.

Massive shout out to the Paradise Lost collective for throwing another of their AWESOME house, disco, funk, soul sound-tracked party in Inner Sydney last night this morning. There were no requests, no too cool for everybody types, just a monster sound system, heavy tunes, good deejays and a care, stress free crowd who came to let loose. Sydney Needs more parties like this...
Be sure to check out Brut 33 and Mikey (Paradise Lost), radio show Boogie Dance Cafeon....
First up, Grand Good filmed the legendary blastmaster KRS-ONE speaking on the origins of Hip Hop, live at the Harriet Tubman School in Harlem NYC. Here's part 1 of 3...
Next, an Al Green classic I stumbled across this morning. I recall hearing this tune on a skate video way back (I think it was the mexican titled Chocolate video or it could have been Girl's Mouse), anyhow i'm digressing once again, so here's the track.
Moving along, I wanted to give a big shout out to DJ Kato who's having a birthday bash this friday evening at Phoenix, sure to be one big night. One of the best DJ's Newcastle / Sydney has ever produced. Every set i've seen him play, he tears it up with an array of great tunes and flawless blends for days.
Now I'm not sure how many of you have seen Jay Smooth's conversation with Charlie Ahearn on the 25th anniversary of the making of the Hip Hop bible of a film Wild Style, I sure hadn't. Did you know Wild Style premiered in Japan? Was / Is this common knowedge?
Here's part one of Jay's fascinating three part interview with Mr Ahearn.
Browsing the My Space bulletins, I came across the following blog from a favourite producer / musician of mine, the man who has been said by Ty G of HVW8 to have "almost single handedly brought the Boogie scene to life in LA", he goes by the name of Dam - Funk. Well written, it's a glimpse into his recent set at one of LA's dopest parties "the DO-OVER"....
Dam - Funk take it away....
"So, this was a pretty cool hit this past Sunday at one of L.A.'s freshest parties known as the DO~OVER, which is run by Haycock & Strong + hosted by Aloe Blacc. I went on after the homie KUTMAH (Much luv 4 droppin' "Burgundy City"!), who played an excellent set by the way. My set was all Boogie & Funk styles (also known as: Boogie-Funk) via the 'original wax pressings'. It's a trip sometimes playing this style outside of my own spot; Funkmosphere and other like minded parties/venues around the country right now, due to the fact that Hip-Hop is still the most dominant form of 'party music', if you will, out there for the weekend club goer. Nevertheless, I stayed true to what I dig and enjoy sharing with the people...all the way thru. As I approached the tables, as I always do, never planning a set in advance (ie. what I'm gonna play) I decided to drop these joints for the DO~OVER crowd. From the vibes of the people who were 'really there for the music', as well as straight party on this afternoon/evening, it felt like everything worked out real cool.
Props 2 ALL the ladies in the house & MUCH luv 2 the entire DO~OVER fam!
Here are the grooves below.

If you're in LA anytime soon, you should definitely check Dam-Funk doing his thing, holding it down at the Funkmosphere party...
Would be here, if I weren't! Really dope to see a Sydney night dedicated to original breaks. Toast to it's success. Very fresh line up. Hopefully someone records some of these sets.
Relatively new night Hoops is also taking place for the second time as I write this. Expect a whole lot of Crunk, Baltimore, Baile Funk, Dancehall, Hip Hop & Hyphy. From all reports it is going off like the Biz! The line up reads as follows: DJ's Ninalavegas, Anna Lunoe and Bad Ezzy, plus Vivienne Kingswood vs. DJ Crane, Amillionaire, Rudy Jackson (Lordz of the Fly) with Banatronic & Hobosexual returning to the decks. Catcall shake n’ pop live with the HOOPS dancehall dancers will also be performing.
Some of you would have seen the following bits and pieces and some of you wouldn't.
Loose Ends:
Two part Neek The Exotic feature from one of Melbourne's biggest rap fiends ands realest scribes. Keep a look out for Robbie's interview with Ali-Ba-Ski (aka Lord Alibaski).
LA's DJ Mike B dropped a crazy DJ Sneak post a while back.
Sean D. did a mammoth Halloween post from the darkside that's well worth taking a look at.
New Jersey's DJ Nes recently posted a moving tribute to the late NJ graff legend "NaceOne" along with the link to a page dedicated to "NaceOne" on My Space with 100+ flicks of his work.
Every set I've heard recorded live from the Banana Split night at the LAX nightclub has been nothing short of incredible. This week's line-up is definitely one of the illest: Special guests Morse Code, Steve 1der, alongside residents Mike B, Steve Aoki, AM.
Here are some cool photos from Blog Erotyczny of girls and wandering cats you may have missed.
Just caught the video to LCD Soundsystem's - "Someone Great". Truly fresh, original, classy vid.
Speaking of vids, Panda Bear's - "Comfy In Nautica" clip, directed by Patrick O'Dell and Sam Salganik, is amazing.
