Soundtrack of now

Newish remix of Sydney based Toni Toni Lee's track from Western Australia's Shazam (via You Tube) that defies belief, takes you out of this world, something special indeed.

You can get it at all the usual digital music outlets (Ala Juno Download, iTunes, Traxsource, etc).

Would have loved to have been there

(Produced and directed by Yours Truly. Visit http://yourstru.ly/ for more)

Rough Trade Records UK posted the joyful, laid-back, quirky cool jam session above in San Fran with The Morning Benders and friends performing the track Excuses from the Benders forthcoming album Big Echo out on March 9th.

Shout out to Meatskull for the heads up

Space Invadas

Only yesterday, I was reading through a transcript of an interview I did with Katalyst, that never saw the light of day.

As with all of the other releases Katalyst has dropped, been involved with, I am hyped to hear his and Steve Spacek's Soul-Fi LP.

Here is the video for the 1st single from thee.....Invadas, entitled Original featuring Buff 1 and RuC.L

Mrs Cold

Just stopped by Stop Look Listen, where I came across the new Kings of Convenience single (video) - go check this laid back Sun-soaked type clip out. It's been on repeat here at the Nickel HQ.

Here is a future soul, hypnotic, mellow tune wonder perfect for escaping the bustle of modern city living, existing.

City Hustle Groove

I keep checking for Koolism's music. One thing I love about their sound and them as people is they are always themselves. Above is the very cool new video for their track Jam Hot.

Message in that music

ATL's AmDex asks all those who are weak on the mic, to go back and build their skills, rather than flooding the airwaves, internet and television screens with their soul less refuse. Guest spots from Supastition and Elevader Dan , make this one refreshing collaboration. Dex's solo EP the 7 Scrolls is coming soon.

Elevader Dan - Change

"Change"

What does Hip Hop mean to all y'all out there?

Spew Lava

Check the third track down.

Some twisted, bass-heavy, robotic-warfare soundtrack electro funk there. Look out for Futuristic Prince's debut (digital) EP on SF label Baconwave coming soon!

Galaxy Hurtling Soundtrack

Here is a snippet of "Embrace", an epic new tune from Netherlands based Dub, 2-Step, Techno masterminds 2562, like whoa!

Claude Von Stroke x Kevin Saunderson

This remix of History Elevate 5 is a heavy, bass rumbling, sea floor crawling, dirty, elephant footprint sized tune. Many of you should already know who these prolific deejays/producers/musicians are, especially the latter.

Stays Grinding

Got a couple of tracks from an MC out of Seattle, Washington named Taybot.

They're off his Taybot /Phil & Numberman mix-tape.

He's hungry, focussed, definitely has potential, three good reasons to post these tunes. Will be keeping my ear out for any future releases of his.

Anything Sacrosanct

So we seem to be in an age where staying away from technology for one day is an achievement in itself. Forget virtual reality for a second. Think back to when Sunday was a day for chilling, hanging out, having a BBQ, going to the beach, rather than working, rather than wasting paper on material goods you don't really want or need. Remember when the shops were closed Sunday? Lets go back to that. Keeping it on that wavelength, this won't take too long.

Just had to share this fine cover of Santogold – “LES artistes” from France's Lilly Wood and the Prick, perfect for the week-end. Shout out to Fairtilizer for the heads up.

ST/MIC's latest EP is a breath of fresh air. A thought provoking, eye opening, soulful effort from the VA MC. Serving as a prequel to his "Honest Music" EP, it's a thank-you to all the fans, friends and fam that have supported him over the past year (and anon).

Track-listing:
1. Silent Hills (Produced By The Unknown)
2. Fly Remix (Produced By Mr Simmonds)
3. Make Te Call (Produced By MUDD)
4. The Making Of Haste feat. BlissOne (Produced By The Unknown)

Had to point you all to this cool blog to hear a magnificent jewel of a track from Karin Drejer of The Knife’s forthcoming solo project.

Solitary Confinement feat. Krondon

Here is a newish video from Evidence.

Jason Goldwatch did his thing with the direction - innovative, refreshing, a short film to reflect on.

This tune is real dope too. It is a cold, slow rolling, laidback wmd. Evidence's The Layover EP is available now.

Königreich Arktis DVD trailer

Take a second to marvel at the brilliance.

Was listening to ATL ambient, garage, punk group Deer Hunter, fitted perfect while watching. A song of theirs came on Caroline Gates program on FBi 94.5FM.

Suffice to say, I'll be seeking out that new Microcastle album.

There is so much good music out there, borders on impossible to keep up.

That is just part of the reason why it has been so quiet here lately…
